Structured training posts and international exchange for surgeons committed to hand and microsurgical practice.
Accredited fellowship posts provide supervised, high-volume exposure to hand and upper limb reconstruction within recognised units. Fellows work alongside consultant staff and take graduated operative responsibility across the appointment.
Applicants are expected to have completed core surgical training in orthopaedic or plastic surgery. Selection considers training record, operative logbook, research output and reference from a supervising consultant.
Fellows maintain an operative logbook against defined competencies, reviewed at interval with the supervising consultant and at completion of the post.
Through its membership of the IFSSH and PAFSSH, and its affiliation with the EFM and FESSH, the Society supports exchange placements and visiting fellowships with partner societies abroad.
